What is happening to Taiwan?

This post is certain to inflame some who frequent this board, given the nature of Taiwan’s history. However, given that I actually care about the future of Taiwan and that this site is frequented by Taiwanese I felt compelled to present my opinions here. This seems to be as good a place as any to discuss this subject. I certainly don’t mean to offend anyone, but I am very concerned about Taiwan’s future.
